Boat Building Courses

We offer a wide range of training courses. Our emphasis is on the practical and students spend less than 10% of their time in the classroom. Students are provided with the skills and knowledge that only hands-on experience can bring.
Woodworking Skills Course
We have just introduced a Woodworking Skills course which has nothing to do with boats but, based on our tried and tested boat building training philosophy, is an intensive, highly practical City & Guilds certificated course in Carpentry and Joinery or Furniture Making. |

Long Course

|
38 week course in Boat Building, Maintenance and Support, City & Guilds Level III. Teaching students to build boats to professional standards and offering some students the opportunity to build their own boats as part of the course.

Short Courses
|
|
|
2 - 5 day courses in specific aspects of boat building and related skills, run twice a year from January to March and June to September. Suitable for complete beginners as well as experienced boat builders wishing to add or hone a particular skill. If you have a personal project in mind let us know in advance and, as we work with a high Instructor to Student ratio, we will see whether we can adapt the training to suit. We are always happy to discuss which short course would best meet your needs.

| Woodworking Skills Course |
|
An 8 week course suitable for complete beginners. The course is intensive and highly practical, leading to a City & Guilds 6217-05 or 6217-06 Level 1 certificate. To reflect the width and depth of the syllabus beyond City & Guild requirements we also award a Boat Building Academy certificate. Students will leave the course with examples of their work and one personal project piece of their own choice. If there is something specific you would like to work on we are happy to discuss how to tailor the course to meet your requirements. |
