Build your own custom-fitted West Greenland Kayak and make a paddle using traditional methods.
West Greenland Kayaks are held together with wooden dowels and synthetic sinew. On the course students will make the ladder frame, install the stem, stern and keel and learn how to steam bend before fitting the ballistic nylon skin.
Ballistic nylon is the modern alternative to seal skin. Students will complete their kayak and paddle on the course an take to the sea opposite the Boat Building Academy.
