Class of
September 2010 Launch Day
Almost
breaking the tradition of glorious launch weather, students,
staff, friends, families and onlookers braved a quick summer shower
at the harbour before setting 10 boats off on their maiden voyage.
Unfortunately with gusty winds two of the deeper-hulled boats
couldn't be launched but we didn't let this dampen our spirits
either.
Here's
a few photos from the day, click here
to see more.
Also, with
great thanks to Fraser McGruer you can click here
to watch a great video made up of the photos that he took on the
day.

Beale
Park Boat Show 10th - 12th June 2011
Once again this
year most of the Boat Building Academy packed up, closed
down and headed to the Beale Park Thames Boat Show. We enjoyed
yet another glorious three days testing new and old students' boats
on the lake. We say glorious, not withstanding Sunday's very
heavy downpour - a bit of a washout but fun nonetheless.

Art
in Action - 21st to 24th July 2011
Oxfordshire
For
the second time the Boat Building Academy exhibited at Art
in Action - a 'festival of fine art and master craftmanship'.
The idea behind the festival is to see artists and craftsmen
at work whether they're blowing glass, chiseling a sculpture,
knitting, weaving, hammering or making a wooden oar.
Once again the
four days was incredibly enjoyable with plenty to see, watch
and eat.

Entered into
Art in Action's Best of the Best was BBA Graduate James
Higson's Paul
Gartside traditional clinker dinghy. 'Alessi'
attracted a lot of attention and the comment 'Swallows
and Amazons' was heard more than once.
