Now he has finished the course, Ian has started a business, ‘Nestaway’. His website is at www.nestawayboats.com. He is now building a workshop in Christchurch and will start production from September
Former students came, bringing the boats they’ve been working on since leaving the course. Myke Littler, now part of the Slipway Co-operative in Bristol, was there with ‘Young Bristol’, the gig the Co-operative has just finished. http://www.slipwaycooperative.co.uk/
And last but not least, Rob Hitchen brought his Salcombe Yawl. Rob was named British Marine Federation Trainee of the Year in March, because of his exceptional progress on the course and his focus and hard work setting up his business after graduating. The yawl looked splendid and Rob’s business is thriving. His website is at www.salcombeboatbuilder.com and click here for the photographic diary of the build at the Academy.
Then it was all back to Lyme Regis for the end of the September course, celebrated by the course boat launch in Lyme Regis harbour and a barbecue on the beach on Thursday 12th.
