7 1/2′ clinker dinghy – Ack Emma, replica of Pip Emma built by Morgan Giles – Ben Charny
Ack Emma is a replica of Pip Emma, a 7 ½ foot clinker dinghy housed at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall (NMMC) built by F. C. Morgan Giles as a first boat for his children, more details on Pip Emma and Morgan Giles here. Student Ben Charny travelled to NMMC and took the lines from the original boat.
The Morgan Giles shipyard was based in Teignmouth, Devon. Gav Atkin of intheboatshed.net says, ‘they were internationally famous for the elegant design of their boats and very high quality of workmanship.’
