Class of March 2012 Launch Day

No-one noticed the chilly winter air on 5 December as seventeen Boat Building Academy students launched their boats into Lyme Regis Harbour.  The launch, a biannual event celebrating the end of each 38 week boat building course, drew a large crowd of family, friends and supporters of the Academy.  Champagne flowed as the crowd cheered each boat into the water.  Conditions were perfect for sailing.

The students, who started their course on 12 March, ranged from complete beginners to those with some experience of woodworking.  They have been a tremendous group to work with and we are sure every one will go on to make a meaningful contribution in the marine industry.

Special thanks to photographers Jenny Steer and BBA Graduate Derek Thompson LRPS for their photos. The rest have been taken by staff and students.
