Our short courses range from two to five days and cover specific skill areas. As with all of our courses most are intensive and ‘hands-on’. Joining a short course is a great way to:-
- Develop practical skills
- Get specific advice for a project
- Take a hobby to a new level
- Use as a ‘taster’ before committing to one of our longer courses
- Spend a few days by the sea in interesting surroundings learning something new
The short course programme is designed so that people can join one course or, if they wish to build a more extensive training programme, a series of courses. A series of short courses is an alternative for those who are unable to join the 40 week course or who want to learn a more specific range of skills. If you would like to discuss which course or series of courses is right for you, or have a specific requirement of a course, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We offer a 5% discount on short course fees to anyone who books two courses or more at the same time.

‘Basic Woodworking’ courses were extended to 1, 2 and 3 in 2017. If you have already been on one of the courses and are planning to attend another, the main differences are: Dovetails are no longer covered in ‘Basic Woodworking 1’, where you make a bespoke picture frame to take home. ‘Basic Woodworking 2’ now concentrates on lapped and through dovetails. You make a dovetail box to take home. ‘Basic Woodworking 3’ now covers the skills that were in ‘Basic Woodworking 2’. You make a curved pencil box to take home. There are more details on the individual course listings.
Two new five day courses ‘Antique Furniture Restoration’ and ‘Marquetry’ have joined the programme. If you would like to bring a piece of your own furniture to restore please send us photographs so that we can assess its suitability.
